Our Story
Mountain Travels Pakistan was founded on a simple belief: that Pakistan is one of the world's most remarkable travel destinations and deserves to be experienced through authentic, professionally managed, and responsible tourism.
The company emerged from decades of firsthand experience in Pakistan's mountains and tourism sector. At a time when adventure tourism in the country was still developing, we recognized the extraordinary potential of the Karakoram, Himalaya, Hindukush, and Silk Route regions to attract travelers seeking genuine adventure and cultural discovery.
Since our establishment, we have successfully organized expeditions, treks, cultural tours, educational journeys, documentary projects, photography tours, and special-interest travel programs for guests from across the globe.

Meet Our Founder
Ghulam Ahmad
Founder & Chairman
Born and raised in the breathtaking mountain region of Baltistan, Ghulam Ahmad developed a profound appreciation for nature, culture, and exploration from an early age.
After graduating from the prestigious Government College Rawalpindi, he joined the Civil Service in 1975. During his service, he frequently interacted with foreign visitors and travelers, an experience that inspired him to dedicate his life to the promotion of tourism and cultural exchange.
In the early 1980s, he committed himself fully to the tourism industry and soon became recognized for his professionalism, leadership, and passion for showcasing Pakistan to the world. Driven by a vision to promote Pakistan as a premier adventure and cultural destination, he established Mountain Travels Pakistan and built a team of highly skilled guides, porters, and tourism professionals who shared his dedication to excellence.
A strong advocate of tourism as a force for international understanding, Ghulam Ahmad believes that travel has the power to transcend social, economic, and cultural boundaries and bring people closer together. This vision was reflected in his address at the Annual Convention on Adventure Tourism in New Delhi, India, in 2004, where he spoke about the role of tourism in fostering regional cooperation and people-to-people connections.
One of the most challenging moments of his career occurred in 1991 while leading an innovative kayaking expedition on the Indus River with three Japanese nationals. During the journey, the group was kidnapped in southern Pakistan and endured a month-long ordeal. Throughout the crisis, Ghulam Ahmad demonstrated exceptional courage, leadership, and commitment to the safety of his guests. His actions earned formal appreciation from the Japanese Embassy, while the Japanese participants later expressed that they owed their lives to his calm leadership and determination during the incident.
